The Adur Special Needs Project (ASP) is a local registered charity committed to providing out-of-school respite and recreational activities for young people with special needs aged from 5 years.

At present ASP provides fortnightly weekend respite, a thee week summer scheme, a weekly interactive youth club and a weekly club for young adults aged 18 and over.

ASP has professional staff who provide a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere where young people are encouraged to play, mix socially and participate in fun activities.

A number of Volunteer Helper Partners, aged 13 and over, give up their time to help with the young people.  They Provide a valuable service and, while the work is not easy it can be very rewarding.
More volunteers are always welcome.

ASP aims to cater for ALL young people with special needs, these include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Muscular Dystrophy, ADHD, Down's Syndrome, learning difficulties, speech/language disorders, challenging behaviour and those having suffered from various forms of abuse and neglect and are now in care.
We operate a 'no selection' policy.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide a safe, comfortable environment for young people.
  • To provide the parents/carers with some time to themselves and other members of their families.
  • To enable the young people to develop socially outside of  the school setting.
  • To offer a wide range of activities and equipment to help them develop.
  • To interact with other other young people in the community.
  • To carry out and provide equal opportunities.
